It is the beginning of the summer everything is warm. Jack was mowing his lawn a leaf fell from his weeping willow it touched him. It was burning and itching so he turned off the mower went inside to his wife it went silent. Mary came running out of the house her blond hair was a mess her make-up everywhere. She ran into the road screaming her husband was gone. Everyone looked at her like what are you saying. Later that day they found her husband in their weeping willow her was passed on. The strange thing is that there was nothing wrong but a simple leaf on his arm melted into the skin. Mary later on in the night was found passed on as well a leaf melted into her forehead.
Life went on and no one bothered to move into the Drake house. That is until the Aragon family moved in the next summer. Rose was a pretty teen with long blonde hair she was the Drake’s family’s daughter but she had not a clue her family was gone until her grandparents told her and took her to go live with them. Rose later when she was sixteen moved back with her new husband.
In the middle of the summer Rose was found in her kitchen dead with her husband she was touched by the leaves and died on the floor. Her husband was so sad that he killed himself with his own wife’s scarf so he could be with his wife and his unborn child. Later on another family moved in. The people in the town told them not to live there but the family insisted.
The new family was a family from the south and they of course were nothing more than a teenage boy, his mother, a brother, and the dogs and cats. Nathan was a tall handsome teenage boy with light-dark brown hair and he was smart. He was madly in love with oli his neighbor. She was a tall teenage girl with long beautiful red hair.
“I hope I get to school on time I will just ask the neighbor boy,” said Olli to her mother. She went to the neighbor’s house and knocked on the door. “Who is it” said a voice from the garage. “Hi I need a ride to school and I was wondering if you could give me a ride.” “I can,” “I would like to know where the school is at neighbor.”
They arrived at the school and Olli just walked off to her class because she was late. The teacher announced that on the 31st of October we will be doing a ghost walk at the old cemetery. Olli asked “why are we doing it at the cemetery won’t that scare all the little kids.” “That is the whole point”, said Nathan beside her. “When did he get here” Olli thought. After that hour school was out and Olli was going to just walk home because it wasn’t as cold as this morning was but Nathan stopped and asked any ways “Do you need a ride.” Olli just looked and said “No.”
He was always trying to impress her with his looks but she never really looked. It was the 31st of October and time to do the ghost walk Olli went as a biker and of course on Halloween you were supposed to be something scary like the neighbor boy who was a zombie. All sorts of kids arrived at the walk most of them got to scared and had to go home, while others just laughed and yes they were a lot older than most. In the middle of the walk a nasty wind ran through and almost all of the kids began to scream Olli laughed. “I thought all of them weren’t scared.” she said. All of the screaming stopped. Olli looked out from her point and saw with horror that most of the kids were laying on the ground and most just sitting there crying. She saw Nathan and ran over. “What happened?” Olli begged him to tell her.
Nathan looked at her with shock; “The leaf’s” was all he said. The police came and all they seem were children lying on the ground. The wind stirred again Nathan and Olli ran straight to the restrooms not stopping to look back. They heard the police scream and then silence then dogs barking. Soon it was morning and the wind wasn’t blowing so they went to the car making sure they didn’t step on any leaf. The leaves never did blow in the day only from dusk till dawn.
As it grew colder the wind began to grow colder, leafs began to dissolve more people and leaving them on the ground where they stood. “My name is Alison and I am Nathans sister who lives in Alaska.” Strange things began to happen and boy was I scared to my own death. The leaves had killed me in my club house. “I can feel my brothers’ terror as Olli was dissolved as well and in that town he was alone and now he has to travel with his dog.
“I wonder if anyone is home.” Nathan had said to Joensy standing next to him. “We looked in all the houses in the town and we have found nothing more than a rat you fool.” said Joensy in a fowl tone. Nathan approached the door he heard a faint noise coming from inside. He walked inside and began to search and found a cat with her four tiny kittens in a box on the closet floor. Joensy look what I found,” Nathan hollered. “Good some food for us to have for a while we travel.” said Joensy from the porch of the house Out of nowhere a girl ran out of a room with a knife in hand.
“Hey what are you doing girl I was only looking at them.” Nathan yelled at her. “He was going to eat them now who are you and where are you from.
It is a good thing we ran into you Anna because we haven’t eaten for nearly a week. You should travel with us it will help keep you safe from the leaves. “You don’t get it do you it isn’t the leaves.” Anna had hollered at them.
“Are you nuts or something,” Nathan asked puzzled by Anna’s sudden burst out. Joensy walked up and grabbed one of the kittens and said to Nathan, “Let’s go.”They left the house and walked on into the woods they had to be careful they didn’t fall out of the trees they were in or they would be toast. “Why did you take the cat Joensy,” asked Nathan with a rude tone. “I took it so we can have something to still care about don’t tell me you forgot that that dog of yours took off into the river did you.”
All through the night we sat on the rocks of the tumbled mountains and ate dinner and they even shared with the kitten Know named Tom-Cat. The next morning they began to travel once more into the deep unknown world. They stopped at another house they had to find some descent cover for a while. The wind began to gently blow they decided not to risk it and they ran for the house. They walked in and what they found was a pride of lions sleeping inside of the house. “Joensy we have to be quiet and run all right.” Nathan told Joensy as quietly as he could. The kitten began to meow and they ran for life into a tree where the lions lost track of the kids and then they just ran back to the house.
That night they managed to get into the house and they hide in the basement. There was a sudden boom from upstairs and then a fearsome roar. It went silent and them the wind began to howl we had to hide in the washer and dryer because it was a large tornado. We knew that it was impossible for the lions or the man to survive. Soon after the wind stopped and we all ran off in the direction of the mountain. They ran for most of the day and soon it began to grow very hot and it was no longer cold but the leaves looked as good as new almost as if winter never happened.
Joensy was lost in the run to the mountain and the kitten ran off into the woods towards the river. Nathan sat under a tree and hoped just hoped that the wind would blow, but instead a freak storm started and frightened Nathan into a concrete bathroom that was in the park. The wind wasn’t blowing at all and all he could hear was the sound of lightning in the sky and the thunder and rain. Then there was a knock on the door of the bathroom, “Can I come in,” a small voice had said from outside the door. Nathan got up and went to the door and opened it up. There was no one there except a cat and a dog that were cold as if they had just crawled out of the river. Nathan stood looking it was Tom-cat and Buck.
“Who are you and why are you here, “said Nathan full of shock. You know why we are here you blasted fool why do you keep running it is only the wind and a couple of storms. I keep running because I am frightened and you cat should know it you saw the tornado and you are the one who ran away when the river stole Joensy. “Yes I did but I didn’t know what I was doing you realize we have all made her angry and she won’t stop till she has her revenge you fool.” “Yea you were supposed to stop us from going into the river Nathan you let me go as well as you friend, oh and she won’t just kill you have to play her game first Nathan.”
Nathan thinks the storm has made him go mad and so he runs into the storm. “Nathan come back she won’t harm you.” Buck had yapped at him from the bathroom door. Tom-cat ran out after him and managed to catch him in a tree, “Your sister sent me here and she told me that you can’t die and you have to live and help the kids around.” Tom-cat screeched at him through the sounds of the thunder.
“You know and have seen my sister you blasted cat.” Nathan sounded uncertain and angry. “Yes you stupid boy and how do you know if I am even a cat I could be your sister for all you know.” Tom-cat screeched at him once more. Nathan broke into tears the thought of his sister. Alison if you are the cat then you must know where Joensy is and if she is alive at all do you. “Sorry but I am not your sister, I am sorry that you lost your friend, but I will tell you if your sister wants me to tell you anything.” Tom-cat said very calmly still in a foul mood.
“I need to know if she is all right I heard she died but just couldn’t believe what was said.” Nathan told tom-cat softly. Well you should be more concerned about how you will survive boy because I hear another storm and maybe even a little bit of rain in the forecast boy.
That night Nathan followed the cat and the dog he was still very confused about how they can be there and not be dead from the river. “How are you not dead,” Nathan asked very puzzled and suddenly surprised by his asking of the animals. “We are you blasted boy and the other boy what was it Joensy is still alive as we speak but she might not be when we arrive.” Buck to him with a whimper in his voice. They arrived at the river and there lied Joensy on her back and he wasn’t moving at all. Nathan ran over and leaned over her body she wasn’t breathing he had come too late. “No,” Nathan screamed with such a panic in his voice.
“I don’t understand why do things keep happening that don’t need to happen at all and even to my friends?” Nathan asked with sudden fear in his voice. Then it hit him and he remembered what the girl had said. Later that night a huge storm came through and it wiped everything out and soon no one was alive except for the dead sent back to get the new dead.
“You should have listened and you could have lived.” Meowed Tom-Cat as she guided Nathan and Joensy to the other world and in the other world the days were nice. “Hello people how are we today,” asked a dog and a boy from behind a tree. “We are well today,” answered Tom cat with such a gentle voice it was almost eerie. “Does he know why the world is angry?” asked the boy suddenly.
Then Nathan woke with a spook and then he felt cold he was by the river the storm hadn’t killed him. He knows knows the truth the people had made the earth angry and she had grown tired of it and had wiped out the human race but she loved the animals and let them stay. Nathan started to walk and he could see in the distance that another storm began to brew all he could do was smile.
